Summer Solstice, Rainbows and Monsoon

The monsoon has arrived here, and now it’s quite literally the time to live in the clouds. When we first came here, being engulfed by the passing clouds felt dreamy or you could say magical. But after spending an entire monsoon here, the novelty faded and there were days when all I wanted was some sunlight and a clear blue sky. 

Still, every season has its own beauty and the monsoon brings a kind of wild exuberance. We see rainbows every few days. We are surrounded by all kinds of bugs, earwigs, centipedes, spiders, moths, and a surprising number of butterflies. A toad, roughly the size of my palm, has made a permanent nest in my balcony garden. And when the clouds sweep across this hilltop, they leave moisture on every surface and suddenly everything feels so cold.

I feel like this is the season when everything around us suddenly goes into hypergrowth - my balcony is overtaken by the plants almost overnight, there are many more types of birds around us than usual, the compost seems to break down faster because of all the fungi and microbes, and even the grass and trees seem to just grow too fast. 

And then there are us humans - indoors, avoiding the rain, struggling to keep closets dry, slipping into a slower, less productive rhythm.

In many ways, our work seems to be in the similar phase.

When I started writing these posts, my goal was to document our journey in the true form, without making it sound glamorous. To talk about the mundane parts of building a product or a business. And the past few days have been filled with just that : giving final touches to the projects, reading about the latest tech to decide our next product, long discussions, planning and shaping ideas. And since all these are just like the pieces of a puzzle, I can’t draw a picture here. In fact, I don't even know what the final picture will look like.

Some people might see this as stagnation or a non productive phase- where all our discussions are random and non conclusive, and there is no visible output. But that's how we have always built products. Not every day is about implementing or making something new, some days are just for exploration and contemplation.

Just like the monsoon, everything is messy and unpredictable right now, and the growth has no structure. But for sure there is a rhythm and abundance of ideas. And it feels like we are close to moving out of this phase now. Hopefully, the next few weeks will bring more tangible updates.

Till then, we continue our journey - somewhere between clouds, conversations, and quiet progress.
